Best American Comics 2008

- My mini-comic Turtle, Keep It Steady! has been selected to be in The Best American Comics 2008, edited by the lovely Lynda Barry (here's a link to the 2007 edition). The series editors are Matt Madden and Jessica Abel. The book is due out sometime in the fall of 08 as far as I know.
Us CCS students were fortunate enough to have been treated to one of Lynda's incredible writing workshops earlier in the year. Drawn & Quarterly will be publishing a book by Lynda based on these intense workshops; What It Is due out sometime in 08. Very exciting.
- Check out Secret Acres' recent news update.
- Here's a link to a beautiful two-page comic Jon Mikel Gates did for me for my birthday, with an explanation.
- And because I haven't posted my sketchbook pages with the frequency I would like, I recommend checking out the sketchbook blog of my buddy James Hindle.
- Congratulations to James Sturm for accepting a MacDowell Colony Fellowship. The MacDowell Colony is an artists colony in New Hampshire. Part of what's great about CCS is being surrounded by people who are going through the process of making a living as cartoonists and artists, and being able to see the different avenues they take in that process.
- And as another link to a cartoonists friend of mine whose name begins with J, here's JP Coovert's new website.
